Madden 17 is the only American Football game on the market and it is praised for its realism. Here, Madden 17 predicts Week 13 of the NFL season.
Week 13 kicked off on Thursday night with a great game between the Dallas Cowboys and the Minnesota Vikings. The rest of the games this weekend have the potential to give us some great games, but what does Madden think?
After another strong week, going 10-3 in Week 12, the game has an overall record of 59-45.
Kansas City Chiefs @ Atlanta Falcons
The Chiefs are coming off a big win over the Broncos and are looking to make ground on the Raiders, while the Falcons are looking to put even more space between them and the pack in the NFC South.
The Chiefs defense and the Falcons offense meeting creates some scintillating matchups and Madden apparently favours the offense. Julio Jones had a great day, as did matt Ryan despite getting hit quite a lot. The ground game also came up pretty big against the Jaye Howard-less defense. The Chiefs struggled like it has all year and Vic Beasley was a big reason why.
Falcons 31 – Chiefs 17
Miami Dolphins @ Baltimore Ravens
Two teams on win streaks, but which one does Madden think will end?
The Ravens defense has been great against the run in real-life but apparently Madden thinks the Dolphins will have a good time running it with Ajayi. Ajayi carried the ball a whopping 28 times for 120 yards and a pair of touchdowns. The Ravens offense on the other hand was completely stifled by the Dolphins as the Dolphins move on towards a playoff berth.
Dolphins 23 – Ravens 10
San Francisco 49ers @ Chicago Bears
I think it is fairly safe to say that not a lot of people are particularly looking forward to this game and if it were possible I’m sure both of these teams would lose, but one of them has to win.
With the Bears squad so deleted by injury and with the offense led by Matt Barkley the Bears did nothing and stopped very little. Kaepernick had a pretty good day, going over 200 yards and adding 2 touchdowns along with 50 yards rushing. The Bears offense on the other hand made the 49ers defense look good in an ugly game.
49ers 27 – Bears 10
Philadelphia Eagles @ Cincinnati Bengals
Two teams who are very possibly out of the playoffs already but can still fight for it, who does Madden think can extend their season for another week?
It’s the Eagles who’ll keep themselves in the hunt as they handle the Bengals pretty comfortably. The Eagles defense took advantage of an injury ravaged Bengals offense and hand them under control all game. The Eagles offense, though not explosive, got the job done, with Wentz, Sproles and Ertz all having good games.
Eagles 24 – Bengals 9
Houston Texans @ Green Bay Packers
Another contest featuring two teams who have to win all of their remaining games to ensure playing in January, so does Madden think it will be closer than the others?
The Packers had one of their better games of the season last week as Aaron Rodgers looked more like himself and the defense stepped up, and Madden thinks that will carry over to this game. Osweiler had another horrible game, averaging just 6 yards per attempt on 36 attempts and turning the ball over 3 times. Rodgers and his offense had another great, efficient game.
Packers 31 – Texans 13
Denver Broncos @ Jacksonville Jaguars
It’s once again Paxton Lynch time in Denver, will he have a better time than he did in his last start?
Unfortunately, no. Lynch and the Broncos offense struggled to move the ball and a few turnovers in the first half put the Broncos in danger of slipping up to the lowly Jags. Luckily, the Broncos defense completely manhandled the Jags, sacking Bortles 5 times over the course of the game and pressuring him a hell of a lot more. This was an ugly game and the Broncos defense proved to be the difference.
Broncos 17 – Jaguars 6
Los Angeles Rams @ New England Patriots
Blowout alert!
The Pats are without Gronk but that doesn’t appear to matter according to Madden. The Patriots defense handled Goff and Gurley with relative ease and the Pats offense just rolled over the Rams defense. Edelman, Amendola and Bennett all had over 7 catches and a touchdown and LaGarrette Blount and Dion Lewis also found the endzone.
Patriots 41 – Rams 7
Detroit Lions @ New Orleans Saints
Shootout alert!
Two of the best quarterbacks in the NFL at the moment, two pretty generous defenses and a host of offensive weapons, all of whom turned up to play. Brees, Thomas, Snead, Cook and Fleener all had big days, flying down the field on virtually every drive. It was a similar story for the Lions who, despite falling behind early, kept up with the Saints as Jones, Tate and Riddick all excelled. The Lions had the ball last and that is what it came down to, as Prater connected on yet another clutch field goal.
Lions 37 – Saints 35
Buffalo Bills @ Oakland Raiders
In the real world, the Raiders may be the best team in the AFC, so does Madden think the same?
We’ve got another high scoring affair! The Raiders offense has so many weapons couple with its strong offensive line and as a result handled the Bills defense fairly comfortably. Amari Cooper got behind the Bills secondary on two occasions for 20+ yard touchdown cathes as AC/DC had another great game. The Bills though, led by a strong Tyrod Taylor game, made a lot of plays against the leaky Raiders defense, it just wasn’t enough.
Raiders 33 – Bills 27
Washington Redskins @ Arizona Cardinals
Can Cousins stay hot to effectively end the Cardinals dire season?
Yes he can. Cousins may have been without Jordan Reed but apparently Madden doesn’t think that will be a particularly big problem. Robert Kelley had a mediocre game but Cousins once again topped 300 yards as he picked apart the Cardinals. The Cardinals, on the back of David Johnson, kept up though and kept the game pretty close, but it wasn’t enough.
Redskins 24 – Cardinals 20
New York Giants @ Pittsburgh Steelers
The Giants enter this game on a 7-game win streak and the Steelers are looking to start a win streak of their own so this one figures to be close, so what does Madden think?
The Giants defense has really stiffened as the season has gone on and Madden has continued that as the Steelers offense struggled to move the ball. That didn’t last forever though as eventually Bell and Brown started making plays. Fortunately for the Giants though, their offense made plenty of big plays too as Odell had another great day, catching 9 passes from 130 yards and 2 touchdowns. That wasn’t enough though as the Steelers did just enough to win.
Steelers 30 – Giants 28
Tampa Bay Buccaneers @ San Diego Chargers
Another game featuring two teams looking to keep their foot on the gas pedal as they look to squeeze into the playoffs, and Madden predicts a pretty exciting game to go with it.
Both offenses in this game went off. Philip Rivers threw the ball all over the field for 300+ yards and Melvin Gordon added another 100+ yard game on the ground. It was a similar story on the other side of the field as Winston passed for 300+ yards and also got a 100+ yard game from Doug martin. Ultimately though, the difference came down to a receiver, Mike Evans. Evans owned the Chargers DB’s and went for 162 yards and 3 touchdowns to win the game for the Buccaneers.
Buccaneers 44 – Chargers 35
Carolina Panthers @ Seattle Seahawks
This game may not have as much meaning for both teams compared to the last few meetings but Madden still thinks it will be a good game to watch.
The Seahawks defense feasted on the Panthers offensive line as the bullied Cam Newton all game. That meant the Panthers got virtually nothing done in this game on the offensive side of the ball and left the defense on the field for far too long. Though the Panthers defense played well, limiting the Seahawks to a lot of field goals rather than touchdowns, it wasn’t enough.
Seahawks 19 – Panthers 6
Indianapolis Colts @ New York Jets
Andrew Luck is back for the Colts, does madden think that will be enough for the Colts to come out on top?
With Andrew Luck back from a concussion the Colts offense found its feet, at least in the passing game. The ground game got very little going but Luck passed for 284 yards and 3 touchdowns. The Jets’ offense also had a pretty good day, on the ground as well as in the air as Fitzpatrick passed for 3 touchdowns too. However, a late Fitzpatrick interception gave the Colts the ball in the Jets half with just a 1:20 left on the game clock. From there, it was easy for Vinatieri for secure the win.
Colts 27 – Jets 24
