Remember NBA Live? EA’s basketball sim franchise that once ruled the roost before NBA 2K came in, and just dunked on every basketball game? Well, EA just held a preview event for YouTube “influencers” and it seems the embargo is up, as videos showcasing gameplay and screenshots have surfaced online.
While we do see snippets of gameplay, there’s not a lot we know. We don’t know what new features have been added, or what tweaks were made, or just how it plays.
When it comes to NBA Live 18, many fans are waiting to be seated with a similar level of skepticism ahead of EA Play in Hollywood, California on June 10. NBA Live 18 is one of the games from EA's lineup that will be showcased at the now annual event.
NBA Live 18 makes a fast break onto Xbox One and PS4 this holiday season. A demo of The One will be available this August.
NBA Live 18 features a new story mode entitled The One, that gives players a huge amount of control over their created character. You can even choose whether you want to pursue a career in the NBA or would prefer to dominate in streetball. Personally, I’d take the route that pay millions of dollars.
Here’s how EA describes the new The One mode:
Your path is defined by the choices you make with the freedom to play how you want, with whom you want, and where the respect you earn in The Streets matters just as much as the rings you earn in The League.
Gear
Customize the way you look from the hairstyles to the tattoos to the kicks, express yourself.
Signature Abilities and Skills
Master an ability only you can pull off and make your mark on the game.
Traits
Choose from dozens of game-changing traits to help strategize against components.
Playstyles
Create how you want to look, and how you want to play, with deep customization. From skills to style, it’s all about you.
Let’s hope NBA Live goes back to its former championship form since more competition is always good, right?
