PUBG: New State, the upcoming mobile title from the makers of Playerunknown’s Battlegrounds, is not coming to India anytime soon. At least not until the anticipated PUBG Mobile India is launched. Krafton, the parent company of PUBG Corporation, has apparently said that there are no plans to launch PUBG: New State in India yet. This comes as a setback to the uber-hit battle royale game, the original version of which was banned by India last year, and the company has been pushing for the relaunch for a little over four months now.

What is PUBG: New State?
It probably won't surprise you to learn that PUBG: New State is a battle royale. It's what the series is known for so the developers were never going to stray too far from that setup. As you'd expect, at the start of the game 100 players will be dropped onto a map before battling it out to be the last one standing or the 'Lone Survivor'.

Interestingly, the game is being developed by PUBG Studio (the makers of the original PC hit) rather than Tencent, the team behind PUBG Mobile. In many ways, the mobile version of PUBG has eclipsed its bigger brother, particularly in terms of revenue (it was the highest grossing mobile game in May 2020), so it makes sense that the original creators of the game are placing more emphasis on its clearly-profitable mobile player-base.

New State also promises to shake up the formula for PUBG games, with in-game weapon customization options that will allow players to modify their weapons within a match in a way that sounds similar to Apex Legends’ weapon attachments.

How does PUBG: New State differ from PUBG Mobile?
It all sounds pretty standard fare so far, right? But PUBG: New State will introduce some new features, both technically and mechanically, to distinguish itself from PUBG Mobile.
