Nexon has announced KartRider: Drift, a free to play kart racer, and it is heading to Xbox One and PC via Steam and the Nexon launcher. This is first time the KartRider franchise is coming to the West having been popular in Asian nations since the original KarRider released in 2004, amassing a total of 380 million players on PCs.
KartRider is a hugely successful Kart racing franchise in South Korea and parts of Asia and with the announcement of KartRider: Drift, Nexon is looking at expanding that success to the west thanks to a partnership with Xbox. A free-to-play game, Drift will feature a huge amount of customisation options across both the Karts and characters on offer. There is also the promise of seasonal content and a range of playstyles to suit both the beginner and advanced players. Furthermore,You can buy Cheap KartRider Drift Credits at 5mmo.com by using the code “5MMO” for a 3% discount.
The real meat of KartRider Drift is in the customization options. This is a free-to-play game, and the different ways you can edit your driver and vehicle are virtually bottomless. You can change the character behind the wheel, and each of those characters has their own tree of skins. You equip a car shell, and then change the front or the bumper, or the sponsorship wrapper, and give it a fresh coat of paint. You can even change the texture of your exhaust fumes. Do you want your car to spew nothing but gold coins? KartRider Drift hears you loud and clear. Most of these changes seem cosmetic, but each car, if not the variables within each car, is stocked with a set of statistics that affect handling and acceleration. There can be a meta in KartRider if you look hard enough.
All of this hints at a fairly comprehensive monetization model whirring behind the scenes. The original KartRider leverages an encyclopedia-sized in-game store, and while Choi tells me the company hasn't decided firmly on what its progression infrastructure will look like, I'd expect the same tradition to carry over here.
