At the beginning of the month, the World of Warcraft Classic servers suffered a large-scale DDoS attack or denial of coordinated service, which prevented many North American players from enjoying the game normally, causing connection failures and instability in the online title. Now, according to Blizzard, the possible cause of this fact would have stopped.
"Immediately after the distributed denial of service attacks against our gaming service began, Blizzard's security team worked 24 hours with local and international agencies to track the source of the DDoS," said Blizzard. "We were told that, in a few days, the authorities were able to identify and successfully arrest a suspect," they say. Although it has not been confirmed, the main suspect seems to be a "UkDrillas", a Twitter user who claimed to be the cause of these attacks, and warned 30 minutes before each of them.
World of Warcraft Classic was published on August 27, being a success, at least in audience: it broke spectator records on Twitch. Although we do not have player numbers, Blizzard had to significantly increase the capacity of the servers to accommodate all those interested in the MMO.
WoW Classic is a nostalgic experience of the MMO genre: back to the origins of World of Warcraft, when systems such as the dungeon finder and guided missions did not exist, and where cooperation and communication between players was most important.
