Phantasy Star Online 2: New Genesis, a companion title to the current action MMORPG, is now available free worldwide. In the West, it can be played on Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One and PC while those on PS4, PC and Nintendo Switch (via the cloud) can play it in Japan.
But wait, it doesn't end there! A new rumor has surfaced stating that the upcoming release of Phantasy Star Online 2: New Generations for Xbox One and Xbox 360 will feature a price cut. The rumor states that the company will launch Phantasy Star Online 2 on Nintendo Switch at a cheaper price than the previous versions. The reason why this is mentioned is simple; the internet is flooded with leaks from the manufacture and it doesn't make sense for them to publish the game on a platform that most gamers won't be using either.
As of right now, there are no announcements for a possible Nintendo Switch release, globally. If we combine bits and bits from here and there, you could say there are some hints about it, but based on previous decisions it is most likely we are not getting one. There is a catch though. PSO2 New Genesis released at the same time, everywhere around the world, in contrast to Phantasy Star Online 2. Which means that if SEGA sees a rise in the game’s profits from the Western side, due to this fact, they may actually reconsider and bring it here too. The only way to actually help this become a reality, is by actually showing from within the game that we want this to happen.
When Sega first revealed New Genesis last year, it was a little unclear whether it was an update or a brand new game. Turns out, it's kinda both. It's like a baby new game, a little hatchling venturing out by itself (one that you can still use your existing Phantasy Star Online 2 character to play).
Set in a large open world landscape, New Genesis streamlines many aspects of the base game, providing cleaner interfaces, improved visuals and a much more welcoming start. The story takes place on alpha with ARKS battling against mysterious enemies called the DOLLS. As the Meteorn, who arrives with no memory, the player must fight against the DOLLS to save Halpha.
In terms of story line, the game does follow the original story where the main character returns to the same place as the first game and the first episode takes you to the universe where there are warring planets. However, the story in the new console release is said to be more focused on the sci-fi theme. This would mean that there will be no fighting in the game and it will be more open in terms of story telling. The new game in Phantasy Star Online 2: New Genesis will also feature four-player co-op, which is something that the previous version didn't have as it limited players to just two.
It's worth noting that, as New Genesis is kinda a new game, some new weapons and abilities (like dashes to help you traverse its new open areas) won't carry over between games. Certain in-game currencies will be locked to their specific games too, though premium stuff like Star Gems and Arks Cash will be shared.
Phantasy Star Online 2: New Genesis free-to-play, and comes to PC today via Steam, the Microsoft Store, and the Epic Games Store. It'll also be available on Xbox.
Phantasy Star Online 2 New Genesis Meseta is the universal currency of Phantasy Star Online 2 and is also plays a very important role in the game. You can use Phantasy Star Online 2 New Genesis Meseta to buy in-game items such as cosmetics and upgrading weapons. If you want to transfer the rich special abilities of your equipment to other equipment, Phantasy Star Online 2 New Genesis Meseta are also needed. The release of the inherent potential of weapons also requires the use of PSO 2 New Genesis Meseta. Meseta can be obtained by fighting bosses, completing tasks, selling props, etc., but it all takes a long time. The most time and cost efficient way to get PSO 2 New Genesis Meseta is to buy it on z2u.com.
